New technology to enhance San Pharmacy services

A spiritual blessing has been held to celebrate the opening of a new robotic storage and dispensing system in pharmacy at Sydney Adventist Hospital. 

Addressing hospital Executives, pharmacy staff and other invited guests, Carol Zeuschner, San Director of Cancer Services and Ambulatory Care recognised all the tireless efforts of those behind the project. 

“We really wanted to thank everyone who has helped us to get to this point now, it does take a small village to make it everything happen and we want to acknowledge everyone  who has contributed along the way.”

Former San Chief Pharmacist Linda Payne acknowledged the dedication of the pharmacy team to continue working despite the disruption of the build.

“It’s doing a renovation while you’re living in the house, well done everyone thank you for adapting everyday, different challenges came our way all the time and you’ve just run with it.”

In delivering a blessing, Chaplain Kym Cross told the crowd it was her first time blessing a robotic piece of equipment. 

Chaplain Cross also acknowledged the commitment and adaptability of the pharmacy team during the installation of the robot.

“May the Lord guide you with wisdom and hope, may you all be led in the noble work that you do, may your hands be steady, your hearts be kind and your minds be true,” she said. 

“We pray blessing on our pharmacy department, allied doctors and staff, may excellence always reign. May you continue to deliver exceptional world class care alleviating suffering and easing pain.”

Following the short ceremony, Chief Nursing and Operations Executive Clare Lumley accompanied by AHCL CEO Brett Goods cut the ribbon on the automated dispensing system. 

Guests were then invited to enjoy light refreshments.
